Going clubbing is a way of speech in many countries and Bangkok provides the finest clubbing and drinks menu available on the planet. With a soft background for laid back conversations to off the charts all night dance music there is a club for everyone, regardless of taste in drinks and music.
Moon Bar has been named often in the world’s top 10 rooftop bars. Located alongside our Vertigo restaurant, Moon Bar puts you at ease in an informal setting 61 floors above the city and serves cocktails that will take your breath away as much as the views. Enjoy premium drinks such as the classic Vertigo Sunset, a melody of pineapple, cranberry and lime juices blended with just the right amount of Malibu. The Bamboo Bar is a landmark that personifies the passion, seductive elegance and spirit of both The Oriental Hotel and Bangkok’s rich history. From humble beginnings in 1953 in what is now the hotel’s renowned Authors’ Wing, The Bamboo Bar grew in size and reputation to become an international legend. In late 2014, the bar closed for an extensive renovation, intended to propel this iconic establishment into the future whilst preserving its unique history and unique character.
For a taste of Bangkok nightlife at its most engrossing, look no further than the Vanilla Sky, a rooftop bar with DJ entertainment and the most stunning 360 degree panoramic view. Here on the 36th floor, the views alone are intoxicating and the décor, vibes and hospitality strike a compelling tempo. The classic of rooftop bars in Bangkok is the “Sirocco” restaurant’s bar in Lebua at State Tower. Ever since the golden-domed restaurant featured in Hangover 2, the number of guests has been skyrocketing each year. It is pricey so expect a drink to be 35-40 USD a pop. From the 63rd floor, the view over Bangkok is nothing short of spectacular. That taken into consideration, it is also packed to the max and can feel too crammed and noisy.
Some floors down from the hyped Skybar in Lebua at State Tower, you find yourselves feeling much more comfortable at the “Breeze” restaurant’s cozy bar. Less crowded and offering a far more relaxed atmosphere. Grab a highchair by the bar and watch the staff whip up drinks for you. Unlike the “Sirocco’s” Sky Bar, grabbing a spot at the bar in “Breeze” is generally easier. There’s a lovely waterfall and soothing lounge music playing in the background. Sorry to say, it’s as pricey as upstairs so be aware.
The “Seen Rooftop Bar” is among Bangkok’s better sky bars. Located atop the Avani Riverside Hotel, it sits a bit outside the city centre, across the Chao Phraya River. This bar is strikingly positioned close to the river, offering a fabulous view of the city and the mighty Chao Phraya.
Seen Rooftop Bar drinks are pretty reasonably priced, especially considering what you get. Cocktails start around 15 USD, plus service charge and taxes; nuts or chips are served with the drinks. The ambience is quite stylish and a special shout-out to the great staff here, who are exceptionally friendly and accommodating and will make your evening memorable.
The Zoom Sky Bar is perched on the 40th floor of the JC Kevin Sathorn Hotel. It’s less crowded than many other rooftop bars, probably because it’s quite spacious and one of the highlights is the 360-degree view of Bangkok that you get without paying extra. The music is pretty cool and the atmosphere is relaxed, likely due to the bar’s size compared to the number of people there. The drink prices are more affordable compared to similar rooftop bars. Expect just north of 20 USD for two snazzy cocktails.
A bit of a hidden gem, the Speakeasy Rooftop Bar is nestled in the incredibly stylish Muse Hotel. The entire hotel has a 1930s feel, and the Speakeasy is no exception: even the staff’s attire takes you back in time. While the view from the 24th floor is jaw-dropping the chill vibe is omnipresent. Spread over two floors, you’ll find a quaint, discreet staircase leading up to the rooftop terrace, offering great seating and views in all directions. The bar is covered so you can still enjoy the ambience when it rains. Good drinks at reasonable prices.
The rooftop bar at Sala Rattanakosin Hotel is a fantastic spot to catch a sunset. Watching the sun dip behind the temple Wat Arun is truly a sight to behold. Photo opportunity for all you selfie animals. The bar itself is nice but seating is limited, so without a booking, you might need a bit of luck to get in.
The Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel offers a spectacular 360-degree view of Bangkok. The bar itself is in a rather minute area, with a steep drop all around, which we find quite unique. It is a little bit long in the tooth and maybe a remodel is in the future to match up to the city’s newer bars. Signature cocktails and classics are served with a smile for a friendly price but given the small area, you might be struggling to find enough space to enjoy it.
Here’s another insider tip from GO! Bangkok! A hidden gem loved by regulars and newcomers but they have always felt right at home at “Above Eleven” on the Fraser Suites Sukhumvit rooftop.
The ambience is brilliant, not too flashy, more casual and relaxed. There’s a mix of high tables and comfy sofas and the best part, it’s great for rainy days too, thanks to a covered area, a feature only seen in a few other rooftop bars in Bangkok. Drinks, local beer and soft drinks are served with free bar snacks at a price not too over the top.
The view from the 32nd floor of the Millennium Hilton Hotel over the Chao Phraya River is undeniably pure magic. While not as high as those in the Lebua Hotel, it still impresses. They have an indoor area if you are not an outdoorsy person or if the weather is not on your side. However, prices are on the high side of things considering the location and no happy hour is in sight.
The Octave Rooftop Bar, perched atop the Marriott Hotel in Sukhumvit, scales impressive heights, spanning floors 45 to 49.When you’re planning your visit, remember there are loads of Marriott Hotels in Bangkok so make sure you know the address and don’t end up at another place. The view from the top is nothing short of spectacular provided it’s not raining. In bad weather, you’ll have to settle for the less atmospheric indoor area.
The Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant, as the name suggests, is primarily a restaurant located on the 37th floor of the Pullman G Hotel. Dining happens indoors, while the outside area serves as the bar. It’s covered, which might dampen the mood a bit but is handy for rainy days. The view from Scarlett Bar is lovely, facing the Chao Phraya River, though it’s not fully panoramic.
Bangkok’s second tallest building houses one of the city’s newest attractions: a glass-bottomed skywalk at a dizzying 310 meters and the bar is right next to it. The bar is great but since most come for the skywalk adventure, it’s more like a bus station at times with people coming and going, snapping away. If you can live with that, this is a great place to visit just before sunset. The rooftop area also includes a fancy indoor restaurant named Mahanakhon Skybar, which is an experience itself.
