The modern silhouette is a creative expression of the Thai spirit. Rosewood Bangkok is destined to establish a new design icon for the Kingdom’s capital and the world stage.

The Quarter Chao Phraya

Situated on Chaophraya riverbank in Khlong San, one of Bangkok’s oldest yet most up-and-coming districts, The Quarter Chaophraya by UHG offers urban sanctuary, designed to make your stay relaxing, comfortable, and memorable. A few steps away from BTS Gold Line Khlong San station, the hotel is only one stop from an award-winning mall, ICONSIAM, and directly linked to BTS Green Line, allowing easy access to all major parts of the city. Each guestroom comes with a balcony, an 50-inch Smart TV, USB & universal sockets, and an open bathroom with a rainshower head. A majority of guestrooms come with river view, while certain rooms comprise bathtubs, kitchenettes, a living area, as well as direct pool access for all your swimming desires.

Capella Bangkok

With panoramic views of the majestic Chao Phraya River, Capella Bangkok, among the luxury five-star hotels in Bangkok, Thailand, is a low-rise riverside gateway to the eternal beauty of nature and the urban oasis of the city. Inspired by the soul of riverfront life, this intimate sanctuary features 101 suites and villas with views of the river, offering both privacy and immersion in its privileged setting. Imbued with the personality of a boutique pied-à-terre, this philosophy extends across all elements, from contemporary dining to the renowned Auriga Wellness.

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok

It’s a rare hotel indeed that remains at the top of its game for close to a century and a half. But in this and other ways the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is one of a kind. The original Victorian-era hotel, now just one wing among three, played host to the likes of Joseph Conrad, Graham Greene, and W. Somerset Maugham, and later such glamorous folk as Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, and Noël Coward. Today, the renovated and restored historical hotel is looking as elegant as ever, and it’s joined by two 20th-century additions; together they make up what might be Bangkok’s most storied hotel, and one of the Mandarin Oriental group’s most historic.

As such it’s still frequented by the leading lights of Thai society as well as visiting Western luminaries; more to the point, it’s an ornately detailed and thoroughly well-equipped modern luxury hotel. The newer wings put their elevation to use offering impressive views over the river; lavish comforts like butler service are universal throughout. Of particular note are the extraordinary array of restaurants, including the one-MICHELIN-Star Le Normandie, as well as the famous Sala Rim Naam, a traditional Thai restaurant featuring an immersive culinary experience; it’s set across the river, along with the hotel’s spa, and is reached via a brief but memorable shuttle boat ride.

The Peninsula Bangkok

This is a case of an excellent hotel which becomes, by virtue of its location, a phenomenal one. The Peninsula’s location on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River provides a panoramic river-to-skyline view — visible by some wizardly feat of engineering from each of its 370 rooms — and a measure of seclusion in riotous, congested Bangkok. But this is much more than just prime real estate: here, Southeast Asian luxury hospitality is an experience unto itself, an industry that may as well have coined the “well-oiled machine” descriptor. The Peninsula hosts an Asian contemporary art collection spanning 8 countries and 25 artists, for instance, and its recommended excursions include an unforgettable elephant ride.

The guestrooms and suites thankfully eschew sterile futurism for a warmer affect, sustained largely by the ubiquity of fine teak, Thai silk, and ceramic accents. Where they do feel modern is in the open, spacious floorplans and, beneath the surface, in their hyper-sophisticated technological capabilities. Touchscreens by the bedside (and in the bathrooms) control every variable of the room’s environment — climate, mood lighting, communications, entertainment — complemented by docking stations and TVs in bespoke armoires. If you can peel yourself away, the spa is equally well appointed, offering a blend of European, Eastern, and Ayurvedic therapies in a separate, colonial-style building comprising more than a dozen private treatment rooms and an en-suite jacuzzi. (This is in addition to the three-tiered main pool and the swanky fitness center’s plunge pools.)

Three restaurants offer everything from authentic Thai curries in a riverside tropical garden to urbane Cantonese masterpieces, often served on gorgeous celadon greenware. The lobby does multiple duties, serving light fare and Peninsula’s signature afternoon tea to the accompaniment of live music. There are also several bars, including a poolside option with a “thaijito” specialty, though the city of Bangkok, of course, is at no loss for dining options beyond the hotel grounds; nor is there a dearth of nightlife — “legendary” being the most common (perhaps euphemistic) adjective for it after nightfall. Avail yourself of the hotel’s exclusive green tuk tuk if you’re feeling adventurous. That’s in addition to its fleet of Rolls Royces and BMWs, the helicopter, and four restored rice barges — naturally.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River

Bangkok has long been one of the world’s great luxury-hotel cities; the big names in hospitality seem to reserve some of their finest work for the Thai capital. So it is with the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. A riverside setting like this would be wasted on a skyscraper that removes its guests from the natural environment; here architect Jean-Michel Gathy opted for a mid-rise complex surrounded by gardens and pools. And if the Four Seasons brand is sometimes viewed as conservative, this one is proof that their aesthetic is more accurately described as subtle and eminently palatable — the interiors here are contemporary through and through.

The public spaces are full of contemporary art by Thai artists, and the rooms and suites are more quietly stylish, with a minimalist-luxe sheen and plenty of local character. The most basic rooms span some 50 square meters and are packed with high-end comfort, while the better ones add views of the river and the suites quickly grow to gargantuan proportions. And it’s all supported by a full complement of luxury-hotel services, from a first-rate spa to multiple restaurants, including a French brasserie, a modern Italian restaurant, and the Cantonese kitchen Yu Ting Yuan.

Banyan Tree Bangkok

Towering at 61 stories high, Banyan Tree Bangkok is a uniquely narrow hotel that has been a fixture of the city’s skyline since it opened in 2002. The luxury hotel’s most noteworthy attraction is its iconic rooftop hot spot, Moon Bar, arguably the best place in town to admire sprawling Bangkok from above.

Banyan Tree’s stately accommodations with spectacular views of their own make the hotel a great pick for stays in Thailand’s capital. The orchid-filled Banyan Tree lobby bustles with both business meetings and intrepid travelers coming and going throughout the day.

Those weary from a long flight can check in quickly, grab a drink from an easy-access bar just steps from the reception desk, book a traditional Thai massage at the spacious spa or hit up one of the 10 onsite dining options.
